The indigenous people of the Amazon have been cultivating the Sacha Inchi seed for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. The su- perfood is rapidly gaining popularity in the Western world because of its unusually high levels of essential fatty acids — Omega 3 (48%), Omega 6 (36%), Omega 9 (9%), and protein (27%). Be- cause of the low intake of animal protein in the traditional Amazo- nian healing diet, Sacha Inchi is used to supplement these essen- tial components of human health.
